Desert Foothills Sheriff’s Posse Recruitment  Would you like to join the Desert Foothills Sheriff’s Posse?
Application Process Applicants must complete a written application to start the process. Interested recruits may download and complete a Posse recruitment application at the Posse Recruit Application link below. Completed applications must be notarized and brought to a monthly board of governors meeting for validation and processing. Only single-sided applications will be accepted.  Do not print the application double-sided. Applications will be considered by the Desert Foothills Posse Board of Governors, and telephone and/or in-person interviews will be conducted. Once an applicant has been approved by the Board of Governors, the application will be submitted to the MCSO for processing.  Upon acceptance by the MCSO, applicant then will be scheduled for initial training. Qualifications 1. You must be at least 18, a US citizen, have a valid Arizona driver's license and be in good mental and physical health. A person cannot have any criminal history or record of improper personal conduct – which will be discovered during the background check – that may affect their suitability for law enforcement work. 2. In order to be QAP (Qualified Armed Posse) you must also be 21 years old How to get involved Posse positions are non-compensated and  are composed of people who want to perform law enforcement work as a way to give back to their community. Completed applications must be notarized and turned into the Desert Foothills Commander or taken to the MCSO Posse Orientation meeting and turned in. MCSO Posse Recruitment Meeting The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office holds Posse program recruiting meetings on the third Wednesday of each month (except December), at 6:30 p.m. During the monthly recruitment meeting, interested recruits will be briefed on the Posse program, the hiring process, the training program, and the application process. The meetings are held at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 2627 S. 35th Avenue, north of the intersection of 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, Phoenix. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month (except December). Bring the following items to the meeting: a black ink pen and a valid Arizona driver's license. Any questions you have will be addressed during the meeting. Please note, it is not required that you attend this meeting if you are accepted into the Desert Foothills Posse. We will turn in the application form for you.  However, you are welcome to attend a meeting should you be interested in obtaining additional information on the Posse program.
